The Tohoku-class cruiser was a Alliance military spacecraft. They resembled a group of skyscrapers bound by a base containing the main engines as well as power generation. There were secondary engines near the top of the large twin central towers. The port side of the vessel had three towers, a large central tower, a smaller tower to port of that, and a much smaller tower aft of that. The starboard section had another large central tower, symmetrical to the portside one and joined to it by a 'skybridge'-like structure about 1/3 up from the base section. To the aft and starboard of the large tower was a somewhat smaller tower. In addition to the five upper towers, a sixth tower was located on the lower side of the starboard half of the ship. While the top five towers were considered to the the "top" side of the ship, the artificial gravity was inverted for the ship in all sections below the base section. This area included a landing platform for the attached squadrons of A.S.R.E.V. gunships as well as docking facilities for any visiting ships or craft.

More of a small floating city than an actual space ship. Many of the officers were even allowed to bring along their families. The Alliance cruiser was loaded with all the top of the line technology, including some of the best medical centers in space. However, their facilities were available to only a select few.
