Rance Burgess' version of the weapon
The Silk trigger active return bolt laser pistol was a weapon owned by Rance Burgess. It was unique, as his version had an auto target adjustment, which he had "crafted special" for himself, something the "Alliance Issue" laser pistols didn't have. For a private owner, possession of the gun itself was considered illegal. (Not that this bothered Rance Burgess.) The gun's apparent weakness was the operation time of its battery pack. This weapon may have also had overheating problems, which would explain why Burgess fired it in short bursts rather than a single continuous beam.
