Jewel Staite

Jewel Belair Staite (born June 2, 1982 in White Rock, British Columbia) is the Canadian actress who plays Serenity's mechanic, Kaylee Frye.
She began working as a model as a young child, and has been acting since the age of 6. She attended the Vancouver Film School and worked at the Vancouver Youth Theatre.

Staite is reprised her role from Firefly in the Joss Whedon film Serenity (2005).
She has worked with the Dyslexia Foundation and several AIDS charities.
Jewel is currently working on Stargate Atlantis playing Dr. Jennifer Keller
