Grunny, I redid some of the category structure, starting with Category:Firefly, and creating three distinct branches - Real world, to deal with real world articles; Firefly Wiki to deal with site maintenance such as templates, etc; and The Verse, which is the IU section. I reordered the Real world categories - take a look and see if anything needs changing. I think it works quite well. I plan on rejigging the Firefly Wiki branch next, followed by the IU branch. - Cavalier One(From here to the eyes and the ears of the Verse) 15:11, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Okay, the Firefly wiki branch of the categories is done, and I have created categories for all the images. Thankfully there were not too many of them. Main in-universe category structure will be done next. - Cavalier One(From here to the eyes and the ears of the Verse) 14:28, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
Grunny; not sure if you've seen this: an official map of the 'Verse. It's endorsed by Margaret Weiss Publications, who make the RPG, so I'm inclined to put it in the same canon as the game. The picture isn't very clear - mainly 'cos you have to buy a copy of it - but another fan posted an interpretation of the map here. The creators also posted this document, which is an explanation of how they worked out positionings on the map and a short timeline. It has some very useful timeline info too. Just wondering what your thoughts on the canonicity of there are. - Cavalier One(From here to the eyes and the ears of the Verse) 18:02, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
Hey Grunny I recently saw the edits of a new guy on the Samurai Jack wiki called Vampayru Spectrum and he recently created a few info boxes for some of the characters now I told him to put on hold while we along with Moe discuss it, things such as the order of how it goes, if we want them etc what do you think, I thought that since you're also an Sysop/Bureaucrat there you would also like to be part of the decision?--SalmanH 21:04, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
Hi, I saw this about a week ago. I didn't belive it until I saw it myself, I thought it would be neat to add to the behinds the scenes or trivia:
As an homage to the Alien movies, the Weyland-Yutani logo was used on some weapons in the TV series Firefly, and can be seen on a heads up display in that show's pilot episode. In Serenity, the motion picture continuation of Firefly, the Operative's claim that the Alliance was "building a better world" echoes the slogan of Weyland-Yutani, "Building Better Worlds." (The show's creator, Joss Whedon, wrote the fourth Alien film, Alien Resurrection.) —Unsigned comment byAverclad (talk • contribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!
Grunny, I created an individual ship infobox here: Template:Individual ship infobox. There is a slight problem with the coding which you should be able to see by the large grey area between the headings. However, the infobox is correct when applied to an article as seen here: User:Cavalier One/Dortmunder (yes, I am going to re-FA Dortmunder :P). I was wondering if you could see what the problem is? - Cavalier One(From here to the eyes and the ears of the Verse) 20:32, October 13, 2009 (UTC)
Fixed. It was a slight formatting difference that only affects it when no variables are put into it. :) Grunny(Talk) 20:46, October 13, 2009 (UTC)
I would like to point out that the Serenity MUSH is a fan-run RPG site. As such, images and text found on that site cannot be considered Canon unless verified by an official source. If those images are only found on that site, then chances are that they are fan-made creations (even if based on official images), and are therefore ineligible for inclusion on the wiki under our canon policy. - Cavalier One(From here to the eyes and the ears of the Verse) 18:35, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
Okay then, I'll yank the image until I can find a more canon source. My original source for it went offline permanently last year.
Hey Grunny; I was thinking about what you said on IRC before you left yesterday regarding good and featured articles. I think that creating both right now wouldn't be a good idea; instead, we should relax the word limit on FAs and just have one system. On a plus note, labelling us both as Operatives might be a good idea, too. - Cavalier One(From here to the eyes and the ears of the Verse) 19:41, October 17, 2009 (UTC)
No worries. For the record, yes, I do plan on getting active here. As soon as I finish off Firefly - I'm still about six episodes off. :) --Thomas Rattim(talk)
The Monobook design's fine - it's basically Wookieepedia's. :P The only real issue is the logo going funny when viewing pages. --Thomas Rattim(talk)
The logo's fine, and it's good work with the skin, but I personally preferred the previous one - either make the pages in the same sort of colour, or the background and such the same as the pages, as they were before, in my opinion. --Thomas Rattim(talk)
New member here! So this is the Firefly/Serenity Wiki, huh? It's more detailed than I'd think. Keep up the good work, Mr. Admin!
--Arkatox(talk) 13:42, November 20, 2009 (UTC)
I was looking at the recent changes and almost all seem to be done by you so I just wanted to make sure that you saw my querrie posted at Talk:Fruity Oaty Bars.
I not sure if you were wondering about my response before but now I feel at liberty to discuss it.
You see this image at the side is of UW anime club's (Ctrl-A -- Club That Really Likes Anime) mascot, Emiko. The extreme similarities initiated a strong negative response from me & others. If you read the background of Emiko ([1]) you can see that ours was made in 1995 and thus felt as though she was stolen. However we have recived word from Geoffrey Mandel and it all seems to be a misunderstanding as he found it on a Japanese site and tried to find the owner and then Quantummechanix some how found it and asked him to make a Lithograph of it. *sigh* It was just such a big shock and now in hindsight it seems silly to have gotten so worked up about it ^u^. Again sorry about the "angry fist".
Hey Grunny, I redesigned the episode infobox template since it was based on Wikipedia's by the look of it. I used the coding from the Wook's television episode infobox. Feel free to clean it up as needed :P - Cavalier One(From here to the eyes and the ears of the Verse) 17:27, January 29, 2010 (UTC)
Hi and thank you for the warm welcome. I hope I can be of some use to this Wiki. I will update the Royalty issues asap.
Keep on flyin' Hutmacher(talk) 15:17, February 28, 2010 (UTC)
Hi again, Hutmacher here. I think you may have noticed that my ability to formulate english sentences ain't up to the standarts of this wiki - SO I would need your help. If possible, I would like to get in touch with you via another medium like MSN or E-Mail from where we could discuss some files I would like to add to the database (Mostly scans of props used during the episodes and the movie).
Hi Grunny. Firefly & Serenity Database is in good shape and I can add it to the spotlight list; however I cannot guarantee when the spotlight will go up (and it's likely to be before June at the moment). Do you still want the spotlight?
You have a lot of borderline stub pages; after browsing through I decided that you more or less meet the no more than 1/5th of the articles are stubs requirement, but even adding some pictures to the cast/crew pages (for example) would be a nice addition. You can see the pages in question at Special:ShortPages if you want to work on them. Also you have a lot of very non-stub articles in Category:Article stubs, and you have things with your "don't edit this because somebody else is" template which have been unedited for months :). So some general cleanup in those areas would be nice. However none of that is strictly spotlight criteria -- just me noting stuff :).
The edit I made to the monaco.css was so the number of articles will appear in the sidebar widget. It looks really strange to me to have that not visible so it just says "articles on this wiki"...
Hi there! I saw that many celestial body articles use the past tense, while most other articles use the present. Why is that?... Klow(talk) 09:48, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
The page you deleted was for the original script, which has some differences from the shooting script used to film the episode, such as the Battle of Serenity Valley at the beginning of the episode. Since the shooting scripts are available in those books, I agree, we shouldn't post them here.
What would be interesting, though, would be a comparison between the original script and the shooting script. List just the parts that were changed. That would be a much shorter page and would help preserve some of Firefly's history. Script comparisons could replace all the dead links to FireflyBrowncoats.com in the "Episode shooting script" sections for each episode.
It may be a while before I get back to this idea, but I'll put it up in a sandbox when I do. If the first one looks okay, then I can go on and do the rest. - RRabbit42 (leave a message) 14:09, September 8, 2010 (UTC)
um i was wondering as i made the article for the Capissen 38 Mark II drive i used a quote from kaylee from serenity... how would i source the quote so i dont violate copywright
sorry about the music edit but youtube has the entier series score and the movie score as well... oh well. i also wanted to ask about the LeMat percussion revolver page red link on the Jayne Cobb page and was wondering if possable to post an image. i was how to do that with out violateing copywright
Would it be okay for me to copy User:Grunny/bdel.js to Dev Wikia? Or could you do it (since you would be best at documenting it)?
I haven't used it yet, but I assume it adds a "Batch Delete" link somewhere on the page and creates a batch delete page. --Fandyllic 6:22 PM PST 18 Sep 2010
On the newly created page called Firefly Ship Works i posted an image. thats the image i was wondering if you knew how to get the licenseing for it. ty
The decision was made already (here) to leave them separate because not all Model B's are Malcolm's pistol. Some other wikis have a practice where "Mal's pistol" would redirect to a specific section of the Model B article, but here we just give these items their own separate article. Frankly I prefer the current method anyway. BlueRooktalkcontribs 16:57, September 29, 2010 (UTC)
Any image from the show is almost certainly used with "Fairuse" in mind, since they are all copyrighted. Even if you pull it from another source that fails to note it. BlueRooktalkcontribs 16:57, September 29, 2010 (UTC)
at the link: http://www.therpf.com/f9/firefly-prop-pix-93964/ is a decently detailed image of the sonic rifle prop. i was wonder ing if it would be ok to post the image here on the site... its in the user's F-N-S's blog post close to the bottom of the page.
There are quite a few file names on this wiki which are absolute nightmares, taking up more than a screen and a half, which are badly in need of moving and correction. If you are able and willing, can you grant me File Move rights? For some reason I don't have it here. I won't simply just redirect the files but will correct every instance of where they are linked. If you would like to check my credentials at another Wikia, there is the 24 Wiki (linked in my user page here) where I have demonstrated trustworthiness with admin/b'crat rights as well. I'm something of a workhorse and would be beneficial to the project with File Move. BlueRooktalkcontribs 18:58, October 11, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, there are a lot of really bad file names, and I started cleaning up some of them a while ago. To give you just File Move rights, I'd have to request a new group be made and give a solid reason why we need it. It's easier if I just make you temporary admin while you do it, which will also allow you to suppress redirects when moving the images. So thanks for offering to do that :-). Grunny(Talk) 22:57, October 11, 2010 (UTC)
It will be my pleasure, and thanks for trusting me with the extra buttons. Leave the new rights as long as you feel is necessary. For what it's worth, if you see fit I would be happy to remain on board in this capacity for a longer term (I plan to contribute quite a bit either way). To head off bad filenames from appearing in the future, would you be comfortable with adding a policy about it? This is what we did over at Wiki 24 (here), the important section of the policy was: Use a clear, detailed title for the file. An obscure name like "qua_047.jpg" won't help anyone, and will be deleted by an administrator. Before that was added, we had no official statement to refer to when asking users to begin using better filenames. Just one idea. BlueRooktalkcontribs 03:40, October 12, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I've been meaning to write up an image policy. I might combine parts of the one you guys have on 24 with our one over at Wookieepedia. I'll write it up a draft in the next few days, and see what you and anyone else interested thinks for wording changes or anything missing :). Grunny(Talk) 08:47, October 12, 2010 (UTC)
When I add the planet info box to a page, shouldn't it add the planet category to the page. Why did u have to do it manually, i guess its not working. Sith Jedi 16:19, December 31, 2010 (UTC)
We don't have it set to add the category automatically. We don't mainly because at some point we might subcategorize the planets category into things like "Category:Planets of the White Sun system" and so forth, so it's better to add categories manually so that if we do change the category on some of the planets (and therefore remove the planets category from being added with the template), we don't have to add it to all the others that don't fit into a subcategory. Cheers, Grunny(Talk) 09:45, January 1, 2011 (UTC)
Heh, nice to see you here as well :) I just watched Firefly and was blown away by its sheer awesomeness, which led me to this place. QuiGonJinnTalk 20:20, January 21, 2011 (UTC)
You might want to block 91.201.67.24. That exact same message with the exact same edit summary showed up on the Browncoats wiki, so this is spam. -RRabbit42 (leave a message) 05:46, February 25, 2011 (UTC)
That was blocked a few hours ago. --Charitwo (talk) 05:52, February 25, 2011 (UTC)
As Charitwo said, it was blocked before I reverted it's edits, so blocking it here would have been redundant. But thanks for letting me know anyway :-). Cheers, Grunny(Talk) 07:19, February 25, 2011 (UTC)
Hello Grunny, if you get some free time, would you mind helping me a little. I was very interested in the setup you have on your userpage where it shows a recent change and also displays the name of the person viewing the page. I copied the code for both over to my page at w:c:lostroom but I ran into some errors. The recent change box is automatically showing the diff which causes my user page to be quite long at all times. With the username template, it simply adds <insert username here> instead of the actual username. I would be most thankful if you could help me with these as I really like them. Thanks--{{SUBST:User:Godisme/Sig|19:20,2/28/2011}}
Hello Grunny i was the guy that put the Admiral sharpe article. The article comes from one of the serenity role playing games books . The problem is that i cant remeber which one it is to me, i promise you the source is real and so to is the character. I have been trying looking for the book ,but i just can't remenber.I will keep looking of thr book is worse comes to worse i will go to the book store and find the name.—Unsigned comment by147.70.212.91 (talk • contribs). Hi. I think the character may be genuine (or based off a real character), though I'll need to find the sourcebook. However, the site you linked to jimsgaming.wikidot.com appears to be fan fiction and fan rpgs based off the series and real RPGs. So not all of the info may necessarily be true. This wiki has a strict(ish) sourcing policy, in that everything must be verifiable to a canon source. I'll try to find the actual source of this info and cut down the articles to only what is canon :). Cheers, Grunny(Talk) 08:10, March 16, 2011 (UTC)
Hi Grunny, Awesome Wiki. I made some small tweaks to the site nav - hope this is ok. If you like it i can do some more. One intersting thing i noticed is that on the Category:Serenity_crewmembers Malcome Reynlds photo is currently being shown as the featured articles badge. Do you think we could fix it? Either we could move the badges further down the page, or we can award the badge to more than 10 articles to prevent this happening. Cheers, Timz
please can you not edit simon and kaylee in firefly wiki! Edit
Hi Grunny I would really really appericate it if you would not re edit simon and Kaylee in the Firefly wiki! I've been working really hard on them and I would like them to stay the way they are.
Thanks for clearing things up for me about the Firelfy wiki. The last thing I want is to get kicked out of the Firefly wiki. It's just I really liked the things I added to the Simon and Kaylee sections. I won't mess with them anymore.
Can you help with someof the pages im doing by making them lot nice im new at it this i just started yesterday.—Unsigned comment byAlexander2789 (talk • contribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Why were my edit's to "Francis Gaylord Proffington" reverted? Edit
Even Featured Articles are subject to edits that improve them in terms of completeness or appearance. Nothing I did removed any factual information about the man, but simply cleaned up grammar, syntax, topic agreement, etc. The result was a MUCH cleaner article that read more like a professional encyclopedia entry (which is supposed to be the model for Wikki-ing).Alexander Donovan(talk) 04:37, April 20, 2011 (UTC)
Hi. The main reason I reverted (apart from some issues with your changes) was that there were a lot of significant changes to the wording. Yes, FAs are subject to improvements, but it is generally considered good form to discuss major changes with the original writer, in this case QuiGonJinn, who can talk through why they chose to write it the way they did, and maybe consider which of your changes improve the article and which perhaps don't. The other reasons for the reversion include that a lot of the changes were mostly wording preference as opposed to improvements, and some parts detracted from the quality of the article such as this: "but his attitude eventually softened (something he tried not to show)." use of brackets in this case reads as less professional than the original version. Ultimately, I would suggest contacting QuiGonJinn on his talk page who is more familiar with the article. He is around, so should respond fairly quick. Cheers, Grunny(Talk) 08:53, April 20, 2011 (UTC)
Hi grunny can you please stop editing the River and Simon profiles. Don't you think they look nice the way they are? Besides I was the one who added most of the information about River and Simon's relationship. What I'm trying to say is can you please stop re editing my work? Hi Grunny! I was hoping you could lock the River Tam page c I just revised it because someone wrote POOOOP on it. I would LOVE if if u could lock it so that can't happen again. Thanks and get back 2 me when u can okay?
Hi Grunny! I made a new skin, and was wondering if I could put it up on the wiki. If you could let me know, that would be awesome. Thanks! Bob (profile)•(talk)•(email) 17:35, February 2, 2012 (UTC)
This may be presumptuous with my two far-from-substantial edits, but I think dropping the dead links to BrownCoats.com, Fireflyfans.net and FireflyWiki.org would be a good idea. We'd keep the credits, of course, and change the refs to something like "the now-defunct..." [2], curiously, is still out there. I haven't seen Serenity yet, so I'll stay away from that page until I do. (I don't know how I missed this when it originally aired on Fox.)--{{SUBST:User:Gaarmyvet/autosig}} 20:22, August 15, 2012 (UTC)
Hi! You probably already know that there is a reunion special coming up called Browncoats Unite, but is it cool with you if it gets highlighted on the main page? I am going to make a page for it, which we could maybe use for the featured article sections, and then maybe a poll? Let me know :)
